Fluorescent Lighting Retrofitting
Overview
With rising energy costs, increasing efficiency in your daily processes can result in significant cost savings. While there are many areas in which companies can reduce their energy consumption, the solution with the least impact on operations and earliest return on investment is the replacement of light bulbs with high compact fluorescent bulbs. In addition to a cost savings, the resulting light generated by the efficient bulb is softer and more natural.
According to recent analysis of the U.S. lighting market, lighting accounts for 40% of commercial sector electricity consumption. Offices, retail space, and warehouses are the largest contributors to commercial lighting energy. Of these contributors, fluorescent lamps account for 56%, followed by incandescent lamps at 32%, and high-intensity discharge (HID) sources at 12%. The resulting inefficiencies result in energy loss as heat which increases the cooling costs during the warmer months.
Solutions
As companies transition from traditional lighting systems to energy efficient systems, ESS can assist with the replacement program and limit any effects on normal operating procedures. While an overhaul of the lighting design is most energy efficient, the use of T8 lamps, electronic ballasts, compact fluorescent lamps (CFL's) and light-emitting diode (LED) exit signs have a significant impact on the efficiency of a commercial building.
The resulting waste bulbs are processed as Universal Waste where the mercury and glass is recycled. ESS can provide a turnkey solution: removal, packaging, transportation, and disposal all with value pricing.
